The U.S. women’s national team will close out the international window on Wednesday against Argentina in an international friendly. Head coach Emma Hayes and the squad extended their win streak with back-to-back 3-1 scorelines against Iceland and will now host Argentina at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Ky. The Olympic victory tour continues as the team hopes to keep up the celebrations with another victory as Rose Lavelle will be honored to mark her 100 USWNT appearances. The Stars and Stripes are unbeaten in the previous five games against Argentina, and Wednesday’s match-up is the second meeting between the two teams in 2024.

Storylines
USWNT: Hayes’ 26-player roster, named for this October window, has largely been utilized. Some players earned their first senior-level starts and debuts, while Olympic gold medalists who are playoff-bound with their NWSL club teams were rotated throughout the games. The manager said in pregame availability that no player would exceed more than two 90-minute matches this window, and with one game remaining, the group seems on course to achieve that. Along with new faces, there have been some new tactics, and there’s one more game to see the USWNT execute Hayes’ three-back vision against a young Argentina side.
Argentina: Head coach Germán Portanova named 20 players to his roster this window. Many of them are up-and-coming talents for the program as they look ahead to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Four players on this roster have less than 20 appearances including three uncapped players. Seven players are under age 25 and four players are teenagers. They’ll be led by defender Aldana Cometti, who is the most experienced player with 85 appearances.
USWNT vs. Argentina prediction
Even with rotations, Argentina are a somewhat familiar foe at this point, and the USWNT have a history of dominance against them. Last game of this window should be no different, and anything less than a two-goal win could be considered a missed opportunity. Pick: USWNT 3, Argentina 0
