Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes: The soulful, hard-driving band with Jersey roots takes the stage at The Parker on Sept. 23. The group’s first three albums in the 1970s were arranged/produced by Steven Van Zandt of E Street Band fame—and Bruce Springsteen and Little Steven wrote songs for those releases. The night before (Sept. 22), two other rock legends, virtuoso guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen and Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes perform at The Parker. (

Toasts, Tastes & Trolleys: The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum serves up a delicious tour that combines the city’s past with cocktails and gourmet bites. The ninth annual event—6-10 p.m. on Sept. 22—kicks off with a Champagne reception at Waterstone Resort & Marina. Trolley stops include Cove Brewery, American Social, Sushi by Bou and famed The Boca Raton. Tickets are $150 per person. (

School of Rock—The Musical: LCA Arts Company, the largest multidiscipline performing arts studio in the region, promises to stick it to the man and blow people’s minds with high-voltage rock during this production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s spin on the popular 2003 movie starring Jack Black. Weekend performances of the heartwarming story run from Sept. 29 through Oct. 8 at Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. (

Learning to Choose: Broward County native Evan Snow chronicles the transformative journey that led him to become one of the area’s most passionate and prominent arts advocates. The man behind the Choose 954 social movement—whose local initiatives include Art Fort Lauderdale—details “seven pivotal choices he made he made as an aspiring creative entrepreneur.” Learn more about Snow and the book at his author appearance, Sept. 15, at The Flamingo House in Boca Raton. (

“Future Past Perfect”: Seven concurrent exhibitions are featured in this salute to rising South Florida artists, curated by Bonnie Clearwater and running through Oct. 15 at NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale. This is the first solo museum exhibition for each of the seven creative talents—Nathalie Alfonso, Susan Kim Alvarez, Joel Gaitan, Kandy G Lopez, Alejandro Piñeiro Bello, Lulu Sanchez and Zoe Schweiger. The impact of COVID-19 in the artists is the common thread. (
