Kasumi, the eagerly awaited modern Japanese restaurant, has officially opened its doors at Waterstone Resort & Marina in Boca Raton. This exciting new establishment results from the culinary talents of James Beard award-winning chef Takashi Yagihashi and esteemed chef and restaurateur Jonathan Fox, who have more than 60 years of combined experience.
Kasumi immerses guests in the elegant tradition of Omotenashi, a Japanese hospitality philosophy that highlights careful attention to detail and an extraordinary dining experience. Located in a prime waterfront spot, the restaurant boasts stunning views that offer a tranquil setting for its remarkable culinary creations.
“We are thrilled to bring Kasumi to life in Boca Raton, where we aim to create a unique dining experience that celebrates the rich traditions of Japanese cuisine,” says Eric Hammer, Kasumi’s General Manager. “The entire team is excited to welcome guests to our beautiful location and share our passion for exceptional food and service.”
Kasumi’s menu offers a diverse selection of sushi and sashimi, made with the highest-quality locally sourced seafood alongside specialty fish imported from Japan. Chef Yagihashi highlights traditional Japanese dishes such as Obanzai Garden Vegetables, Shio Koji Sea Bass, and Chicken Toban Taki, all served with a contemporary twist. Additionally, the restaurant boasts a wide variety of sake and Japanese whisky, a thoughtfully curated cocktail menu, and an impressive wine list.
Kasumi is a fresh concept featuring interiors crafted by Heidi Avedisian of White Ink Design. Avedisian has a proven track record of bringing restaurant and hospitality ideas to life across Florida, Hawaii, and New York City, alongside creating personalized residential interiors nationwide. The design of Kasumi embodies a sleek Japanese coastal vibe, blending organic elements of teak, rattan, and limestone, complemented by a marine-inspired textile palette that enhances the stunning waterfront setting.
The much-anticipated debut of this restaurant represents a significant enhancement to the dining scene in Boca Raton, adding to the area’s diverse culinary offerings. Located along the Intracoastal Waterway at the entrance to Boca Inlet, Kasumi stands out among Boca Raton’s eateries as a distinctive waterfront dining spot, providing visitors with an authentic taste of Japanese cuisine in a breathtaking setting. With a seating capacity for more than 150 guests, the restaurant features a bar, dining area, and a waterfront terrace. A new private dining room will also be available for events starting this fall.
Kasumi is open for dinner at p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and reservations are available on OpenTable. For more information, visit kasumiboca.com and follow along on Instagram @kasumiboca.
